Supported charities:

Achieve Tahoe was started in 1967 by Jim Winthers, a World War II Veteran of the 10th Mountain Division and Director of the Soda Springs Ski School. He brought together a group of Vietnam Veterans with disabilities and they taught themselves how to ski and found ways to adapt equipment to do so. At the time, adaptive sports equipment did not exist. The experience was so positive, Jim felt that the community could benefit from a formalized program that helped more people.

Today, Achieve Tahoe provides year-round outdoor recreation activities for people with cognitive, sensory, and physical disabilities. We can serve just about anyone with any disability. We focus on health, confidence, and independence so that the experience people have with us is long-lasting and carries over into other areas of their life.

Mountain Mentors facilitates one-on-one mentorship in backcountry skiing & snowboarding, rock climbing and hiking. Each season, we pair mentees and mentors and provide the programming necessary to empower pairs to define their intentions and objectives and to experience growth. In addition to one-on-one mentorships, at the heart of what we do is community. Our program offerings seek to energize, deepen, strengthen, and grow community both in our cohort and broader outdoors community.

Sierra Club of BC works to repair relationships with the land, water and all the living beings who share this home. We can shift the paradigm from resource extraction to reciprocal relations. By grounding our work in evidence, respecting Indigenous leadership, empowering communities to take action and inviting new partnerships, we are supporting policies and actions that build healthy communities where the trees, salmon, bears and people will thrive.

Whistler Community Services Society (WCSS) has supported Whistler’s social health and wellness since 1989. Our Re-Use-It and Re-Build-It thrift stores are powerhouses in Whistler’s circular economy, diverting over one thousand kilograms of useful items from landfill each day, and nearly 500,000 kilograms of waste PER YEAR through our stores and bottle refundables program. Funds earned from these social enterprises are reinvested back into the community, in the form of free programs, health and wellness resources, and other support.
